Emily Eymundson
Choreographer | Director | Educator
Emily is a choreographer, educator, director, and artist residing and working on the unceded lək̓ʷəŋən traditional territories, known as Victoria, BC. She works primarily in dance education and musical theatre.
Instruction
Emily currently instructs dancers ages 2-18 at Westcoast Academy of Performing Arts, actors ages 6-12 at Amber Academy Youth Fine Arts Society, and adult dancers at Passion & Performance Arts Inc.
Dance styles she specializes in include jazz, ballet, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, modern, commercial jazz, physical theatre, and musical theatre. She also teaches Russian Folk Dances, and various street styles including KPOP and voguing.
Emily is especially passionate about accessibility and inclusion in performing arts spaces, and is available for talks and courses about creating safe dance and drama spaces. Workshops and lectures she has delivered include The History of Jazz Dance, Sociological Perspectives on RENT: The Musical, and The Art Educator’s Ethics Compass.
Direction
Emily has experience directing stage production, film, and music videos. She is deeply passionate about musical theatre. Recent productions include Royal Bay Secondary School’s Hadestown (asst. director), and VOS Musical Theatre’s The Rocky Horror Show (co-director).
She also is experienced in stage management, technical theatre operations, sound/video editing, costuming, and prop design.
Choreography
For both stage production and film, Emily is versed in choreographing for soloists, duos, and large groups. She specializes in choreography for musical theatre, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, and modern, among other styles.
Emily’s choreography has appeared in music videos and on-stage at Vancouver Island dance competitions. In her graduating year, she won the Dance Choreography award at her high school’s dance program for her jazz and hip hop choreographic works.
